At CARE, we walk with people through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

This is one of those stories.

He’d lost his job. Sanctions left his family with no income. He was feeding his children—but skipping meals himself.

And behind closed doors, he was being hurt by someone he trusted.

He came to CARE asking for food. But what he really needed… was someone to listen.

He didn’t expect much—just someone to see what was really going on. So we listened. We didn’t flinch. We stayed.

Over the weeks that followed, we helped him attend mental health appointments.

We checked in twice a week. We helped him feel safe again.

He didn’t have to explain himself every time. He just had to come in.

Today, he’s reconnecting with his family.

He’s healing.

He’s even talking about volunteering—to be there for someone else, like someone was there for him.
